Anyone who doesn’t know Walmart has been living under a rock. When I was working, our company was a vendor at Walmart, so I had a lot of exposure. I even got to know Sam when I was helping to set up a new store, back when he only had about 700. They have gone on since then!
Having worked with the company, I know the ethos that exists in the corporate side. Or at least I did. Things have changed a bit since Sam passed away, but I still have great respect for the company and owning stock is important to me.
It was because of my Walmart that I met my wife, but that’s a story for a different time. However, Walmart provided her with the ability to continue to take care of her family when her first husband passed away. She also has a soft spot in her heart for the company.
When I first bought the stock, it was close to my maximum purchase, but it did a split shortly after I aquired a few shares and it has continued to do well. I expect it will continue to do so for a long time.
