This is one of those places where I made a mistake. I admit it! Here is what I was thinking:
Nvidia is making chips. But really they just design them. They give the designs to another company like TSMC to actually make the wafers and then it goes to get packaged in the little box that we call the chip.
Anyway, that’s all a part of the AI supply chain, which is really vast. I could not afford TSMC but I wanted to have a company that actually made the chips and I found United Microelectronics by searching for foundry companies, which is what they call the companies that actually make the chips.
It was cheap and so I bought 20 shares. It’s been in the red since the day I bought it. I don’t think it has turned green since the day I bought it. Oh well. There is a saving grace though.
They pay a dividend which is amazing. It’s actually not a bad one either.
