It’s supposed to be a bad month
They tell me that September is typically a bad month for the Stock Market. So, the analysts are saying that we should expect a pull back during this month. I have some funds set aside so that I can take advantage of some of the drops in prices. I think I’m going to stay away from the AI stocks. I don’t think it’s a bubble popping, but I think there is some slowing happening. There is a lot of push back on the Data Center build outs. Someone said something like 75% of the Data Center Projects have been delayed or scrapped. They were supposed to be up and running in mid 2027 but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.
So that means that companies that build them aren’t going to do that well unless they find other projects, and if they don’t build them, the companies that supply them aren’t going to be busy either. Also, if they aren’t there to fill with servers and equipment, then it’s likely that the box and chip companies aren’t going to grow at the speed we want. So we might see some big drops in the AI world, but I think I’m going to pay more attention to consumer staples and healthcare. I think those have a better chance through the end of the year. Don’t take that as advice, it’s just my thoughts about what is happening out there in the world.
Tariffs and Trade Wars
Our president insulted the Canadians and tried to pull a fast one on them and they caught him. He has put a 50% Tariff on their products entering our country. That will teach them! They are going to put a tariff on our products too. But that will mean that for us, the wood (for buildings) will increase in price, and so will things like toilet paper. Here we go again! Remember the Toilet Paper Wars back during Covid? The Canadian tariffs go into effect on September 8, so it’s a week away, while the US tariffs are in force right now. Oh yeah, and the president did something that really taught the Canadians a lesson! He renamed the Lake Ontario as Lake America. Yup, that’s a big yawn! Who cares what he calls it? It’s still Lake Ontario. But he did an executive order, and now he’s stamping his feet and whining to Apple about changing it in Apple Maps. What a waste of space in the Oval Office!
The Iran War
More tensions in Iran too. We bombed an island in the Strait of Hormuz because they had missiles prepared to put more mines in the Strait. I don’t know if that’s true, or even possible, but that’s the excuse they used. Iran fired at our bases in Jordon, but I don’t know if they hit anything. Is this the start of more fighting? I don’t know but the price of oil went up again. That’s going to look good during the midterm elections! I also heard that the chief of the Army has resigned and walked out because of Pete Hegseth’s changes and crazy attitude.
What I am doing this month
I am probably not going to do much this month till I see how things shake out with the war, and the usual pull back of September. It’s time to watch for the right stocks on sale. We’ll see how it all works out. I will put some money in to my ETFs which is just a regular thing, but I’m holding off on making too many other changes.
