War and Peace

I am not going to make any political statement about the war in Iran. Do I wish it hadn’t happened? Of course. But there isn’t much I can do about it. I am just not a very political person. I am a pacifist and never want any kind of conflict. I am however an investor and the effect on my investments has not been especially good. But the war isn’t entirely to blame for that.

Let’s face it. With the AI Bubble fears, and the CapEx spending fears, valuation fears, and all the inflation possible recession fears, the market has been suffering. At least, my portfolio has. So there are many things that are disrupting my investing adventure. And I’m getting kind of tired of the whole thing. Sure, the other day I added to my SCHD ETF investment, and I just bought in to a company called Kimbell Royalty Partners which is one of those Oil and Gas transport companies like ET and EPD.

As usual, when I invest in somebody, the stock goes down and this is true of these but that’s just the way it goes for pretty much every purchase. And as you might have noticed, I don’t buy and sell but pretty much just buy. That’s because I invest because I think the business is good, and I just want to be a part of it. Why would I sell if I think the company has something good to offer? I have to admit that with all this trouble at the Strait of Hormuz an Iran has me worried about oil stocks.

One might think that it will be good for them. Others say that it’s going to kill our oil related companies. My Exxon and Chevron stocks haven’t really moved much through all this, at least no crazy spikes in one way or the other. Let’s face it the oil business is important.

Look at Cuba. I think we should be trying to help them rather than taking advantage of their problems. If Russia gets in there first, they will look at Russia as being their savior and us as being the bad guys. I don’t know. I feel sorry for them though. I guess I think more about the people than the governments. The normal citizen on the streets isn’t causing trouble. They just want to live their lives like anyone else.

But the stock market seems to be holding up pretty well, but I am getting more and more concerned about what is going to happen. For the time being, I am just holding on tight and not making any crazy moves. I know some folks are saying that we should buy the dip, but it’s scary, isn’t it?
