It’s looking more and more that the whole Venezuela thing is just not going to do us much good for a long time. It will probably be at least 5 to 10 years before we’ll see any profits coming from there and it will be a lot of cost. Plus, it’s still not safe for our people to work there. I don’t think it’s going to help us much in the short term.
There is supposed to be a Jobs Report today that may cause some ruffles in the market. I’m not sure if it will be good or bad. But it’s not looking good for another rate cut by the FED.
We are also supposed to hear if the Supreme Court is going to make some of the current tariff’s illegal. Even if they do, I know that there are other ways that the president can impose them again, so it’s really just a wash and won’t make much of a difference.
I had said a while ago that I wanted to buy Micron stock (but I didn’t) and it seems that others have caught up with me. Memory is going to be super important for all the data centers. I’m not too sure if it’s too late to get in on it now or not. Micron is pretty pricy right now but the P/E is really pretty low, so it is probably a good buy, it will just take a good bit of money to buy in.
There is more talk of China trying to take over Taiwan and that could be miserable because most of our chips (like Nvidia and AMD) are made there by TSMC. We do have some TSMC foundries here in the states, but it doesn’t seem like they are going to be able to fill the gap if we lose Taiwan.
There is still a lot of talk on the Energy problems and Nuclear seems to be the answer for some. OKLO might be a stock in my future to get in on that front. Natural Gas is the alternative, but some are looking at clean energy (wind and solar) which I would be all in on. Just have to find the right people to do it.
There is more talk about the US taking control of Greenland which I think is dumb. I’m sure it’s just a materials play but they are using national defense as an excuse. So, we’ll have to see. It’s probably just a way to get people talking about something other than affordability and the Epstein Files. But regardless, it will have a huge impact on the US coming soon. I hope it just fades away.
There was a woman (US citizen) killed in Minneapolis this week by an ICE agent. My thoughts are that the guy who shot her was just too big for his britches and should not have been allowed to carry a gun. It’s more like the wild west out there than I can ever remember. I expect to see the OK corral type battles soon at the ICE buildings. It’s not good. I keep hoping that someone will come along and talk some sense into these people. Enforce the law, sure. But don’t just swing your six shooters and call people out to the street for a duel.
