I think my second computer that I ever got was a TI-99. It was a Texas Instrument computer, and I figured it had to be good because I had been using their calculators for a long time and trusted the company.
It was a great computer, and they came out with different expansion methods into a big box that you set next to the computer. I got the expansion box and added floppy disc drives.
I had used 8inch floppy drives at work on computers, but this was my first at home. It also had the first modem that I got. It was 300 baud. If you’ve seen any old movies with computers, you have probably seen where the letters come up on the screen one at a time to form a sentence. That was 300 baud.
Anyway, there is a certain sentimental feeling I get when I think of Texas Instruments, so owning a little bit of them is basically all about the feeling. I’m sure that they feel the same way about me (I doubt it!). It was rather pricy in my budget, so I only bought one stock. But I feel really good about owning it!
