Elephant in the room
There was a speech by our president today in the UN and a number of things came out of that. He indicated that the war in Iran will be over shortly after the elections (I tend to disagree, but we can hope). He also threatened to destroy Iran if they didn’t satisfy his demands. In the same speech, he made comments about Cuba that caused the Cuban delegation to walk out on his speech. The thing that made me laugh though was that he has decided that we won’t say Artificial Intelligence or AI anymore. It will now be called (in all the government documentation) Super Intelligence or SI. I’m surprised he didn’t name it Bigly Beautiful Intelligence <grin>. I don’t know if it will actually catch on. I’m sure there will be a lot of jokes coming out like they did when he tried to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America. I think he’s just drunk with power, and a sharpie. All the other countries are just laughing at him.
With all that, it is looking like there is little hope that we are going to see any good resolution. I almost think he is setting up to start WWIII. We will probably lose track because he has essentially decided not to have press conferences because of his media block. Now he has his own TV show setting up in the Oval Office. He’s still just an (un)reality TV show host.
Anyway, this was just recorded to indicate the kind of things that are going on and affecting the economy and the stock market. All this is greatly affecting the oil prices, and supply chains of all kinds especially food.
Not a big day
There wasn’t any really big news that I saw in my stocks today. Most went up a little bit but not huge amounts. I think the biggest was WDC which is a tech stock. But nothing else did anything much.
I have been studying a little bit on the REIT system.
I still like the REITs and I am trying to learn more about them. It’s an interesting study, and I will probably write something more up about it in a different area of this site. Keep your eyes out!
